Last November we were incredibly proud to become one of the first marketing groups of our size to achieve carbon negative status. The whole of MSQ – incorporating all 750+ staff across 12 international offices – now offsets far more CO2 than we generate.
What’s more, all MSQ companies have completed BIMA’s excellent Carbon Negative training course (run by MMT Digital’s James Cannings), so we can also now work with our clients to help them offset their own carbon emissions, providing quarterly carbon impact statements and ensuring carbon emissions are identified and offset ahead of any new project.
And we’ve not stopped there. Since achieving carbon negative status, we’ve taken our contribution further by planting an additional 10 trees for each tonne that we offset, whilst over Christmas MMT Digital planted a further 10,000 trees of their own.
We’ve also selected an offsetting partner, Ecologi, to help us track progress and support important projects. This month, for example, we’re helping to provide clean energy through hydropower in Kanungu, Uganda and are preserving the Mesoamerican Biological Corridor in Guatemala.
Ecologi is one of the best supported platforms in this space, so we’re particularly delighted to see that already, within a few weeks of signing up, we’re one of the top 40 businesses on the platform. And we intend to continue the good work throughout 2021 and beyond. Our dedicated Carbon Negative team are working hard on new schemes and initiatives to provide our planet with a better future.
Because this is the right thing to do. It’s important to our staff, our clients, and the future of our planet. We’re proud of the journey we’ve been on so far, but we’re only just getting started.
