One of the toughest stats to read this week was that 50% of people who are diagnosed with cancer will be afraid to relay this fact at work.

That’s why we’re marking Saturday’s World Cancer Day by taking the #workingwithcancer pledge, an outstanding initiative first instigated by our friends at Publicis Groupe. We’re joining a growing number of companies working to abolish the stigma and insecurity that exists for people with cancer in the workplace.

You can see our pledge below. We’ll work closely with our charitable partners on maintaining best practice and sharing resources. We’ll drive awareness with key leaders and decision-makers through our internal and external channels. And we pledge to keep learning and improving to make the workplace more supportive and recovery-forward.

For more information on living and working with cancer, this is an incredibly useful starting point. And for those looking for further support, the Macmillan support line and online communities are incredible resources.

We know from our own activity with Cancer Research UK (who themselves are doing some ground-breaking work) that 1 in 2 people will have cancer at some point in their lifetime. We hope that #workingwithcancer can help bring much-needed visibility to the issues faced and create a culture of support for those diagnosed.
